When Do Amazon.ie Black Friday Deals Start in 2026?
Black Friday is always the day after American Thanksgiving, which puts it on 27 November this year. Amazon treats it as a week-long event rather than a single day. In 2025 the deals ran from 20 November to 1 December, and 2025 was also the first Black Friday on Amazon.ie after the Irish store launched. Expect a similar pattern in 2026, with new offers appearing daily up to Cyber Monday on 30 November.
Mobility aids are not usually the headline deals. Discounts tend to be modest and spread across many smaller sellers, so it pays to check prices in the week before Black Friday and again on the day itself.
How to Spot a Genuine Mobility Aid Deal
A bigger percentage is not always a better deal. Amazon shows the old price in two ways. A "Was price" or "Typical price" is what the item recently sold for, so a cut against it is a real reduction. A list price or RRP is the manufacturer's suggested price, which few shops ever charge, so a discount against it can look larger than it is.
Fit matters more than price with mobility aids. A cheap rollator that is too low, or a toilet frame that does not fit around your toilet, is no bargain. Before you buy:
- measure the user's height, the doorways and the space the aid has to fit
- check the maximum user weight against the person who will use it

Paying Less: VAT Refunds and Grants in Ireland
Black Friday is not the only way to bring the cost down.
VAT refund on aids and appliances. Revenue refunds the VAT paid on aids and appliances that are specially made or adapted for a person with a disability. Examples Revenue gives include commode chairs and similar toilet aids, lifting and transfer aids, and specially built riser chairs. A family member can claim on the person's behalf if the aid is for that person's sole use. Rented items and services do not qualify. Mobility Aids Grant Scheme. Local councils run a means-tested grant of up to €8,000 for basic work in the home, such as grab rails, a level-access shower or a stairlift. It pays for adaptations rather than portable aids you buy online, but it is worth knowing about if a bathroom or stairs is the real problem. Details are on gov.ie.
HSE aids and appliances. Some aids, such as wheelchairs and walking frames, can be supplied through the HSE after an assessment by an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. Ask your GP or public health nurse before you buy an expensive item.
